Kempsville Recreation Center was opened in 2004 as part of a major renovation and expansion of the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach. The center is targeted to achieve LEED Silver Certification. Fire suppression services include a new fire pump and a sprinkler system to ensure sufficient water pressure is available at the upper portion of the gym roof and natatorium. The plumbing design services include a new plumbing system that includes energy saving features such as preheat of domestic hot water and heating of the pool water with the geothermal heat recovery chiller system. This unique heat recovery chiller can produce both hot water and chilled water simultaneously for the entire building. The design also took advantage of large windows and solar tube lighting included in the architectural design by providing daylight harvesting LED light fixtures where possible.Ī new four-pipe mechanical system was provided throughout the entire renovation area including a geothermal heat recovery chiller and various energy saving features. Backyard is fully fenced and includes a 16 x 16 Detached Office/Gym fully finished with 220 Electric and a mini-split with heat and A/C. PACE Collaborative provided the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering services for the replacement of the Kempsville Recreation Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Northside YMCA renovation totals 19,000 square feet and 2,700 square feet of additions doubles the size of the fitness center, adds a community kitchen.
